First, I wish you all a Happy Holidays and New Year. I hope you enjoy some well-deserved relaxation time alone and with your loved ones. We all need some moments to recharge, and while the holiday season can be a busy one, it's essential to take the time to care for yourselves physically and mentally and do whatever makes you happy.
I want to update you on my plan for the next few months. I will take a break from posting here because I will focus on a couple of other writing projects. My first one is an article for Ringside Seat magazine about the Kronk gym. I have already done a few interviews for it, and I hope to do a few more. It will be a lengthier profile, and for it to be my best work, I must dedicate the appropriate time to it. I wrote a piece for RS last year, a profile on Leonard Dorin in issue #16, which I am very proud of, and I hope to be just as proud of the Kronk piece.
I also plan to start writing my first boxing book! It is something I have been kicking around in my head for quite some time, and I want to start dedicating consistent time to working on it. I fully recognize that it is a huge endeavor that might take me years to complete, but I want to try. Even if I only get as far as writing the introduction, opening chapter, and book proposal, that will be an accomplishment because I have never written that much about one subject. And completing those key book-writing steps will be valuable should I pursue another book down the road.
As with tackling any major project, the road ahead may seem daunting, but you must start by taking the first few steps. Otherwise, it will be paralysis by analysis. It's about setting smaller, more achievable goals to feel proud of your progress and keep moving toward the finish line.
I am intimidated and excited to venture into this unchartered territory as a writer, and I am confident I will grow from this process regardless of the result. And that’s what counts—progress over perfection.
Thank you, as always, for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to keeping you updated as I go.
All the best for 2023!
I’m very proud of you to decide to attempt to write a book! It is a huge undertaking and it takes a lot of courage and determination to even begin. I wish you good luck and much success!
