Welcome to Fight Fundamental!
Greetings fellow fight fans.
I have been a combat sports fan since the late 2000s. Back then, I read The Ring magazine regularly (and still do) and watched every UFC event I could. I also started boxing recreationally around that time and have since evolved into an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. All that to say that combat sports play a major role in my life today.
As my passion for combat sports grew, I decided to start writing about boxing in 2016. Looking back, I liked writing short stories as a kid, so that instinct for story-telling was always there. I just hadn't honed it in a while.
To get back into writing, I wrote an ephemeral blog before joining The Fight City as a contributor. My first piece was a profile on Terence Crawford, and shortly thereafter I went to New York City with my friend and fellow fight fanatic, Ricky, to cover Crawford’s fight against Hank Lundy. Over the years I have written pieces for other publications, including The Ring and Ringside Seat magazines, and The Queensbury Rules.
Although I will always be grateful for the opportunity to contribute to those sites, I want to have my own platform where I can publish what I want without having to pitch my ideas to editors. This space also gives me a chance to write about MMA, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a while but never found the right outlet.
I have a rough idea of the type and frequency of content I want to produce but nothing is set in stone. I will get the ball rolling and see where it goes. I appreciate every one of you that chooses to join me on this journey and I look forward to interacting with you.
Stay tuned!
